Alan Benes gets final start of career?

Thanks to The Birdwatch, I've learned that Alan Benes may have gotten what could be the final start of his career. If it is his final game, I offer my salute to his career. I have his autograph and had the chance to see him play when he was with the Louisville Redbirds.
Alan Benes got an emergency start for the Memphis Redbirds Friday night in what was likely his last appearance before retiring from the game.
It didn't turn out to be a memorable one, as New Orleans downed the Redbirds, 4-3, in the opening game of the final series of the season.

The veteran right-hander was called into service with the promotion of Anthony Reyes, who is scheduled to start Sunday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Benes turned in six strong innings, but a three-error third inning did in the Redbirds.
